Basia (Barbara) Lowes is an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with Advanced training in Minimally Invasive & Laparoscopic Surgery. She received her Medical Degree from the University of Sydney in 2010, having previously completed a Bachelor of Law with Honours. She completed her specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the Royal Darwin Hospital and The Royal Hospital for Women. She went on to complete an additional 2 year training program in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery accredited by the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society (AGES). In addition to this she has expertise in colposcopy and pelvic floor surgery, and supports the collaborative care at Alana for women with pelvic floor issues. Her training has given her the knowledge and expertise to look after the needs of women with an empathetic, collaborative and holistic approach.
Basia is proud to be a female Obstetrician & Gynaecological Surgeon and works as a Consultant at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick, where she is also involved in research, specialist training pathways and education of future generations of doctors, midwives and medical students.
Basia is an active member of AGES and is a representative on various College committees. She presents regularly at conferences & meetings and has published in academic journals on various OBGYN topics. She is passionate about supporting education & wellbeing of current & future generations of doctors, and is involved in teaching through RANZCOG, AGES, the University of Western Sydney and the University of Notre Dame.
In her spare time she loves spending time with her family, enjoying the great outdoors, good food, and travel, as well as occasionally catching a theatre or musical performance, as she was an avid musician prior to medicine.
